SUMMARY:Workshop: Creative Catalyst [ONLINE]
DESCRIPTION:Bored with your photography and don’t know what to do? Want to begin a new series but haven’t found a direction or hit a plateau in your current series and don’t know where to go?  Sign up for  Creative Catalysts.  Creative Catalysts is an ongoing group of photographic artists who are looking to be challenged and inspired. Led by artist and curator Beth Lilly\, each month she presents an assignment designed to push artists into new creative and technical spaces\, shake themselves out of ruts and find inspiration. The following month\, the group meets to critique the previous month’s assignment and receive the next assignment. APG posts the best work from each assignment on their social media. \nArtists sign up for 3 classes at a time and at the end of the three months\, can choose to continue or take a break. \nRegister by January 6- intro class & receive your first assignment!\n\n\nJanuary 20 – Review and discuss 1st assignment.  Receive 2nd assignment \n\n\nFebruary 17 – Review and discuss 2nd assignment.  Receive 3rd assignment \n\n\nMarch 17 – Review and discuss 3rd and final assignment \n\n\nWorkshop Dates: Jan 6\, Jan 20\, Feb 17\, March 17\nThis Workshop is ONLINE\nTime: 7-9pm\nWorkshop Fee: $145 APG members / Non-members: $165 \nInstructor: Beth Lilly\nBeth Lilly is an artist\, curator\, teacher and the former executive director for Atlanta Photography Group.   An exhibiting artist for over 30 years\, recent exhibitions include Spalding Nix Fine Art\, New Mexico Museum of Art\, The High Museum of Art\, the Zuckerman Museum\, Whitespace Gallery\, the Atlanta Contemporary Art Center\, and MOCA GA. Her work resides in the permanent collections of the High Museum\, the New Mexico Museum of Art\, The Ogden Museum of Southern Art\, MOCA GA\, the Metropolitan Atlanta Arts Fund and many private collections.  She has taught photography for both Kennesaw State University\, the Art Institute of Atlanta and the High Museum. Her critically acclaimed performance/interactive project “The Oracle @ WiFi” was published by Kehrer Verlag in 2012. SUMMARY:FOCUS: a portfolio & project development course [ONLINE]
DESCRIPTION:Focus is a portfolio and project building course for emerging\, mid-career and advanced photographers. This ONLINE course meets monthly for six months\, with group and individual sessions. The course is taught by Judith Pishnery\, APG’s executive director. Course participants will learn techniques for portfolio and project development\, engage in discussions of each other’s projects and work towards creating compelling\, thought-provoking\, fine art photographic projects. \nCourse discussions will include: creative concepts\, marketing & selling fine art photography (including social media\, websites\, portfolio reviews)\, presentation styles & sizes\, editing and sequencing projects\, technical concerns with cameras\, post-processing and printing\, writing and talking about your work\, and much more. \nStudents will work on the own personal portfolios & projects\, and work toward a group exhibition to be held at the Atlanta Photography Group gallery. \nAny type of photographic based work is appropriate and welcome for this course. \nThe course will meet ONLINE once a month\, and offers an additional\, 1 hour\, individual discussion with the instructor\, to beheld between group meetings. A private online discussions group is also provided to share images or information and to ask questions. \nClasses begin on Monday\, January 25 @ 6:30 pm – 9:00pm ET\, and meets once a month for 6 group & 6 individual sessions total. She received an M.A in Commercial Photography and an MFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD). \nWith an extensive educational background as a photographic professor at numerous art colleges and creative programs\, Judith mentors aspiring and mid-career photographers. She leads photographic workshops to Italy\, France and Portugal\, including a few in the US. In addition\, she teaches creative processes\, portfolio and project development\, along with helping artists navigate the business side of commercial and fine art photography. DESCRIPTION:Forest McMullin joins APG to lead the NOVEMBER -ONLINE- meeting of the Critique Group. Register Now!\nWe are delighted to have Forest McMullin return\, for the second month in a row\, to lead the Atlanta Photography Group – Critique Group for November 2020 – with our online version. \nMcMullin is a freelance photographer\, consultant\, and photographic educator based in Atlanta\, Georgia. For over twenty-five years he has been providing distinctive photographs to Fortune 500 corporations\, graphic design firms\, advertising agencies\, and numerous business and general interest magazines. He specializes in photographing people on location and is respected for his ability to bring out their dignity while still showing them with directness and honesty. He works regionally\, nationally\, and internationally. McMullin received a BFA from Rochester Institute of Technology and an MFA from SUNY at Brockport. His work is in the permanent collections of George Eastman House\, International Museum of Photography\, American Society of Media Photographers\, Visual Studies Workshop\, Rochester Institute of Technology\, The Buffalo Museum of Science\, and Finger Lakes Community College. \n  \n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW! – FOR NOVEMBER CRITIQUE\n\n\n\nCritique Group Guidelines\nONLINE for NOVEMBER 2020 – Read info and Register\nCritique Group is for APG members only\, but we welcome an exploratory visit. \nIf you’d like to present your work or just join us for this online version – registration is required.\n\n\nThis ONLINE critique is limited to 12 photography reviews and up to 100 total participants. \n\n\nPreference for critique participation will go to current APG members. \n\n\nThe dropbox link to upload images will be sent to the first 12 photographers to register\, with a wait list. \n\n\nLink to upload is usually sent about 24-48 hours before the scheduled critique. \n\n\n\n\nThe ZOOM meeting link will be sent to all those registered. \n\n\nCritiques are timed so everyone gets equal consideration.
